Priest - Politics is Dicey

Finally, it seems like Priest is also getting picked up by the Local media! He should be watching out though, the US is more Chinese then you'd think, haha. This fine piece of Alabama Governor Bob Riley and Anti-Gambling Czar John Tyson Jr undoubtfully has another fun story of corruption and hypocricy behind it Check this cool interview with Priest right here.

the pine beetles

These fresh pasties are the work of artist Basil, hailing from the westcoast of the US and Canada. Basil doesn't limit himself to one kind of medium or technique and comes up with fresh concepts and works. Check out more of his Pine Beetle installation here, and have a check at his website and blog as well (making trash out of art he said..made us laugh).

C215 - Logan Hicks

"Both two artists and two friends are honored this week by The Stencil Of The Week: C215 and his model Logan Hicks. In his new manner, C215 tributes to his NYC based stencil artist friend through his portrait and some elements of recall - the graphic background or electric red colours that evoke Logan’s work. It seems that this is the beginning of a series …"

From Babelgum "When artist Aakash Nihalani moved from the suburbs to NYC he was compelled by its symmetry. As an organic response he started laying down tape on the streets and on buildings, creating brightly colored sticker tape boxes framing aspects of the city he wanted to show people, creating tableaus from real life. Both uncomfortable at potentially defacing property by using permanent materials, and enraged at the continued treatment of public artists as vandals, we join him as he brings 3D to his work for the first time, via use of mirrors and passers-by, and discuss why impermanence is important to the acceptance of street art." Always good getting something in the mail from the homey Priest! Last year he got me an amazing screen print on which I'll post more later, this time more goodness in the electronic department. To quote priest "It is on a building in the lower 9th ward of New Orleans, LA and still has the original search team x's 5 years after the storm. While helping me spray this my friend Rex Dingler, a lifelong native of New Orleans, said he should go to London and spray X's over all the Banksy/Robbo piece so they would know what a real problem looked like." Still don't know whoPriest is, check the interview we did with him.

above

Above has been working hard on his amazing 'Homeless not hopeless' project to raise awareness of homeless people in his new hometown Portland in Oregon. Oregon is one of the states with the highest proportion of homeless in the United States and is amongst the states with the highest unemployment rate as well. Instead of ignoring these people, like a lot of people do, Above actually gives them their dignity back by listening directly to homeless people and giving them a voice. Because so many homeless he listened to spoke highly of TPI (Transition projects), an organisation helping homeless with getting back on their feet, he decided to give 100% of the profits to TPI.

His goal is to raise $5,000 dollar to donate to the transition project. This is why he released a limited 100 series print which is hand colored. The price is $49,00 and all the profits go to the TPI. Please check out the photo's and interviews he did here. To buy the print, you can go here directly. Note, if you don't have enough money for a print, or they're out, you could always make a direct donation to TPI!
