Yeah people, I promised you more pictures of doel so here they are! I hope you enjoy looking at the pictures as much as we did making them. So to tell you a bit about Doel:
Doel is the first town where the local council recognized the dangers of living near a nuclear power plant. A lot of inhabitants complained about aches and in some cases even mutations, at which point the council started researching... Okay this is a load of crap, I hope you bought it for a minute, but the real story:
Already back in the sixties they decided that the harbor of Antwerp had to grow, and the tiny little village of Doel was in the way. Luckily crisis and recession hit (multiple times) and it never really happened, till a couple of years ago. Now there are still a few people living there, but the biggest part of Doel is a Ghost village. Ives, Mr.176, Kaymir, myself and Bushit (dragged him along behind the car) went to snap some pics and paint over the town. Seriously I can't say anything else but that it's eerie and amazing!!
No not like that you filthy mind. Yesterday I, together with a larg crowd, witnessed Ives putting up a huge Marilyn Monroe in public for the first time. The whole crowd that gathered actualy applauded when they saw the stunning result!
Not just one artist of the week, but a whole collective! The X-streets collective members rule the streets of Amsterdam and Basel, you can't walk the streets without seeing their creatures. The X-streets collective members are IVES.one (NL), BUSTart (CH), MLSS (NL), Karma (UK), Oei! (NL), Zaira (CH), Fons (NL), Skate (UK) and Robe (NL). We've been a huge fan of the X-streets collective since we went to their exposition and after party last year. They are a versatile, colorful crew who don't limit their art to any known boundries.
