A great report from the Photograff collectif on Dénoyez, one of the hall of fames they constantly monitor with their blog Graff à Dénoyez. Check out the beautiful work, including some of ROA's this time. Enjoy. French here. English here.
Will be looking forward to this one: A ROA show in Galerie Itinerrance in Paris, starting of from the 4th of February! The Belgium based artists quickly gained his fame with portraying normally small mammals in huge proportions..in black and white! some of these works of him are ingenious, giving a look in the nerve system or organs of an animal by wachting from a different angle, or opening a door. He has been part of group shows and other out-of-the ordinary expositions, but don't know if he has ever done a solo gallerie show, but knowing his work, it'll be great!!
Yeah people, I promised you more pictures of doel so here they are! I hope you enjoy looking at the pictures as much as we did making them. So to tell you a bit about Doel:
Doel is the first town where the local council recognized the dangers of living near a nuclear power plant. A lot of inhabitants complained about aches and in some cases even mutations, at which point the council started researching... Okay this is a load of crap, I hope you bought it for a minute, but the real story:
Already back in the sixties they decided that the harbor of Antwerp had to grow, and the tiny little village of Doel was in the way. Luckily crisis and recession hit (multiple times) and it never really happened, till a couple of years ago. Now there are still a few people living there, but the biggest part of Doel is a Ghost village. Ives, Mr.176, Kaymir, myself and Bushit (dragged him along behind the car) went to snap some pics and paint over the town. Seriously I can't say anything else but that it's eerie and amazing!!
Found this nice set from the Best Ever VS ROA expo in Brighton which started on 19th september in the Prescription art gallery, Brighton. Don't know if this still up, but the pictures look amazing! Pictures by Prescription Art.
Wojofoto recently went to Doel, Belgium, and if you want to do the same I suggest you hurry up, because Doel is going down! It has been long known that Doel would go because the harbor of Antwerp 'needs' expansion, but now it's finally that time. But not before Belgiums finest have brought the village to life one more time. Check it out.
I'm in love with these Urbex graffiti photographs in Ghent from Kriebel. It features some of my favorite artists; ROA, Bue the Warrior..and Kriebel himself. Enjoy. Of course, there is always more at Kriebel's Flickr.
